"Outta my way stool!"

There's a film out there you have to see...

I was sold at John Cusack and Chevy Chase, this even has Crispin Glover in it! Hilarity! The premise is given away by the title but what's sick is their destination in the time continuum, they end up at Winterfest 86. It's the 80's film you never had. See how you feel about it after this...

Another thing I enjoyed yesterday was this footage...

Hope this post either inspired you to go skating or made you book a cinema seat. Happy bank holiday weekend

Good Peoples

The Palace party last night was a really good one. Lev smashed it up, the best thing was seeing old faces, Slam family deep. I would show you loads of photos but I only took one, it seemed like everyone else had their cameras out and I was enjoying the festivities. It's our Charlie accosting himself in front of himself...

Lucien is pro-watch out! Looking forward to seeing other peoples pictures. I have a wedding to attend at the Weekend so I may have to visit an establishment I spied in my neighbouring market place. "short back and sides-no problem!" the man said...

See you tomorrow

“The little man is still a man.”

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe said that, he is a great author you should really read by the way. Id start with The Sorrows Of Young Werther. Illness has meant Rob has been shrinking...

It's just Honey I Shrunk The Kids prop work though really, he's still 8 feet tall. The references to diminutive stature are due to a decision made by these guys...

They had a board meeting which let this man slip through the net...

It was good having him out for the day. Check the latest installment of Zic
here
That inch taller than you I am isn't going away anytime soon Dan, you should put the heelies back on. I drew this to explain the most recent developments in the London Borough...

It's badly drawn but you get the idea, the flat bank is a lot further away from the driveway than that. Hopefully I'll be paying it a visit this Sunday

"The road of excess...

...leads to the palace of wisdom" William Blake

The road of excess will be the one most travelled tomorrow night in aid of the Palace of skateboards but i'm sure all wisdom will be out the window come 10 pm. It's the Palace Skateboards party to celebrate Lucien Clarke being the second pro on the team sheet...

To win two tickets entitling you to join in the festivities simply visit the Slam City Skates
site
and answer the question via email on today's news feed. Answers will be accepted till noon tomorrow and then the winner's will be announced. What an amazing day it is, this kind of day...

Hope you're out there enjoying it. Make sure you click on the top left window of Jackson's
Notch
page for this Weekend past's activities. Notch Vs Zic could be on again tomorrow

The Wonder Show of The World

Rarely do I get a new album and rinse it straight away. Bonnie Prince Billy and the Cairo gang got about four listens I estimate. Good stuff, enjoy the video accompanying a song off the album...

Sunday 25 April 2010

"They just say Slam City on them...

...do you have nothing cooler than that?" Cheers. Altamont apparel along with Emerica shoes are successfully inhabiting our basement. Altamont Europe are proud to welcome the next Palace pro Lucien Clarke to their team...

I've slept on picking this up so I'm going to do so after work...

and tonight I feel to watch this...

Okay I'm off to ring Pin, my film choice acted as a reminder.

Roller skating Jam

Carnaby street saw some Nike SB queuing action this morning...

People came to pick up the Dunk "Skunk"...

Shier is waiting finally to board his plane back to La La land now the volcano has simmered down. Safe journey mate...

Dirt Burger entrepreneur The Wilson would like to draw your attention to his better half's up coming marathon efforts. Kate's raising money for Mudchute city farm, I know it's not the skate park but dig deep it's for a good cause-I told you so. Sponsor her

Good luck tomorrow Kate. Finally I'll leave you with a heartwarming John Lewis ad Magee pointed me in the direction of...

My brother's giving a best man's speech today, I bet it's a good one. See you in the Sunday zone

Friday 23 April 2010

"There's only one department...

...and you're talking to it!" Seth had the best quotes out that's for sure, I may have one more for you before this post is through. Tolerances have been tested by questions about tomorrow's Nike SB release. I have no idea how long the queue will be but I can tell you that the "skunk" dunk high will be on sale from 10am tomorrow morning at our Carnaby street store beneath WeSc. One amusing photo for you and then the rest of today's post will be skateboard heavy because after all "we sell skateboards, we sell skateboards, we sell skateboards" Stu Bentley and Mark Jackson were rocking a solid look the other day, it's a shame the near identical bottom halves aren't in it too...

Right down to business. If you are a skateboarder living in the city who cycles and you don't own one of these...

you're blowing it. It's the handiest device ever. Pick one up
here
Ben Colen recently posted up some old Boston pictures. Check out this one, it's the reason skateboarding is good. Mike Graham back in the day...

That made you want to get out there? If it has and you need a new board prior to that drop by and pick up one of the new range of Slam boards...

or buy one from the comfort of your home
here
I'll leave you with some footage. The make will appear on an edit either Rob or myself will make in the near future. Those of you who have visited Stockwell of late will know just how gnarly this is. Blueprint's answer to...

See you at the Weekend

V.O

Nipped back to my parents for a couple of days hence blogging inactivity. Cycling has meant minimal use of my ipod. It was a treat when I went for a walk yesterday and this greeted my ears...

This was my dad's pick of the day...

and Jonny L's...

See you tomorrow

Chewy

If you haven't looked at the
PWBC
blog or the Blueprint site this will be news for you, I'm spreading the word a day behind schedule, no news there. We're all awaiting another viewing of the Blueprint video. This guy has a sick part...

It seems he clocked up some footage whilst living in Spain. If Volcanic ash is to delay MFWTCB at least you have a Chewy warm up part

Josiah Gordon "Doc" Scurlock

These films were a big deal whilst growing up...

I don't watch 24 but the films I just reminded you of are the reason why it was an honour to have this guy in the shop today...

"Trouble? I'm a poet, with flowers of all things"

Dot Cotton

We spotted the Eastender's stalwart outside Diana's enjoying some dinner...

Funnily enough it was seconds after I'd enquired in the launderette about the price of a service wash. Unfortunately the photo of Toddy/Shier with her never materialised. Dan bought us our daily caffeine from arguably the best coffee shop in the West End...

They got creative labelling our black and white Americano's...

I visited an old pal later on yesterday evening. If his work had not re-located I have no doubt in my mind he'd have witnessed Dot at Diana's too...

Viva Le Baron! Notch has had a face-lift. Sift through Jackson's world of skateboarding

If it's Saturday afternoon and you're reading this indoors, do me a favour and go outside, it's a lovely day

DITC

At some point during my childhood I earnt free reign to explore my father's extensive record collection. This is one I used to like to play when I was about 10...

I think it may have been on rotation in the Sawyer wagon which is why it got some more attention. The lyrics were what I liked, in one song he calls out a guy for being a gorilla and threatens to re-arrange his face, this must have appealed to my sensibilities. The same feeling of excitement was aroused when I played that one out this morning. He's talent is undeniable give him a listen...

I'm going to get on with my day. We just saddled up and enjoyed the breakfast of champions...

Perfect start to the day

Denim and Leather

The purchase of a Pleather Altamont jacket today sparked a conversation about leather jackets and their merits. I've never owned one but remember wanting a very specific one when Seattle sounds were rattling around my ears. On the way to pick up lunch I dropped in on a favourite vintage clothes shop stop off. One whole rail of leather jackets were on sale for £10 only. I tried some on, five. They all looked wrong, some were too short, some were too wide. It made me think who looks good in a leather jacket? (the boss excluded) You know who? This guy...

Murdoch was a hero of mine, this led to a good viewing of this...

and the discovery of what promises to be the funniest film ever made...

All this came from Henry's Apple button + escape revelation. We took this down last night...

If you haven't seen it you should. It's a Happy Madison production and that's all you really need to know, that is an accolade in itself

Jake's eye view

This is what will be beamed into my eyeballs regularly from now on...

Thanks to a tip off from Max I picked up my new whip from A.J Hudson in Bromley with a little help from Jonny l. The maiden voyage was a lot of fun and today was the trip to work test. All went smoothly I'm happy to report so I'll make my introductions. Here she is "The Mule"...

I'm going to quickly brush my teeth before I go out. On second thoughts...

Next I went looking for a good image of shop before I told you about the team page. Then when I came across this...

and saw Dan Callow in the foreground having a read it jogged my memory that I hadn't directed you in the direction of him and the phantom foot washer yet. The new Zic escapades are live
here
As promised the Team page is steadily being pimped by our Ches. So far
Rob Mathieson
has a clip, filmed only this morning as does
Karim Bakhtaoui
and the first one that went up was from
Neil Smith
Make sure you have a good click around on their pin boards, you never know what you might find

Daydream

Karl Pearson came and saw Port O Brien with Hops and my dad the other day. He's been making really good edits lately and they're getting trippier. Everyone's a sucker for a Luigi appearance. Enjoy it...

Boy that scratchin is makin' me itch

Better late than never on this, I'd meant to write something but got giddy at my return to Bromley. Felt I needed to say something about Malcolm McLaren's passing. I could wax lyrical about The Sex Pistols and what they did to change the world but I'd be playing myself by doing so. One thing McLaren is responsible for which had a large impact on my life was this...

That and a Bowie cassette were the first pieces of music my Dad ever gave to me and I played them to death, these noises please me still. "Free Leonard Peltier"

Recently

Many things have stoked me out but there's been too much going on to bang on about them. First thing this morning somebody zipped past me on one of these...

Literally...

Here's some footage of one in action...

I spoke to the guy on it who was the director of the company. Chimpanzee riding on a segway of the future. It made me stoked enough to report other things which have been exciting of late. We saw this guy...

On top form and backed by an orchestra, he was supported by this guy...

It was Hops' birthday. Tonight we'll be seeing...

If you haven't checked out
Port O Brien
you should, they're doing good things. This was obviously a time...

As was seeing Seth and Riley's Easter...

Keep Thursday night free because in conjunction with us...

Ed Templeton has an art show just around the corner. You can RSVP for the event by following the info on this events
