What bird we were to eat on Sunday was kept a secret from me. I'd never eaten one of these guys...
It's a castrated rooster called a Capon and it's delicious, this is what dinner looked like...
Here is an edited highlight from the Christmas book Wob got me, funny stuff...
Provoked a lot of laughter that did.

Hope yours today is just as handsome a platter. Boxing day skate on the cards?

Xmas Party
It's been sporadic, soz. Mail order is this time of year's order of the day. Last night was full of cheer and busy to boot. Everyone came out and a good old time was had by all so thanks for making it. Had a lot of fun playing music with this guy...
I'm pretty sure it's the most fun I've ever had playing music, Stu Hammond who was Lev's right hand man last night concurs, Good people, live room, nice times. You can see a few more photos
here The new Grey is a great one, make sure to pick up a copy in Slam, seeing the City Of Rats trailer Henry has put together was exciting, people are hyped, it's gonna be a keeper. See you in the shop when you pick up the new mag.

Virtual custom
Commerce is alive and well but it seems people aren't as interested in the 3D experience any more, a serious pile of presents just left the door all ordered from our online store. Apologies for the lack lustre post processing this has prompted but enjoy this little clip...

Richard Brautigan
It's been a good week for reading in my world. Treacherous Weather has meant I've enjoyed these two novels, both of which I have only dipped into here and there. Richard Brautigan writes with both a wisdom and an innocence, I enjoy his descriptive language. "The old shack had a tin roof coloured reddish by years of wear, like a hat worn under the guillotine" Not so much happens in these novels but you enjoy the ride, equal parts tragedy and comedy at the core of each. You should give them a go...
He was an interesting and unfortunate character whose suicide note read simply "Messy, isn't it?" Perhaps a happier take on existence in his words to tie this up is "All of us have a place in history. Mine is in the clouds"

"party"
Christmas is looming, something anybody dealing with mail order at this time of year is acutely aware of. We've been working through them as the same amount again stacks up in the background, production line Elf style. One good thing this means is that the Christmas knees up is imminent and here is the thrice ammended flyer...
Hops would like you to ignore that question mark as he is confirmed. Suzi and Oli Mac sent me this, it isn't funny at all..

Must have
Certain things evaded my ownership over the years, one of which I purchased earlier today when rain stopped play before it had even begun. As a child, as with most boys my age I had a healthy fascination with knives and guns. With age the spud gun became an air rifle etc. Knives were always the most viewed item in any gift shop. I clearly remember owning one of these...
It's a classic, although I have had many pen knives somehow I never owned the real thing, so today when I went to replace my nail file as rain had induced browsing I took a detour and got myself one of these...
My key ring's happier already. Get your diaries out because the Slam Christmas Party is around the corner...
and it's always a good time

Papparazzi
Missed out on a scoop yesterday, Jed Wells will be stoked. This guy came in looking for Insane stuff...
Robin Williams in Slam is somewhat amazing, he is the originator of "adooooot" He makes the noise with the pinocchio nose extension in the Fisher King, missed a pap snap by having a day off for sure. What a good day off it was though, rain stopped play on the skateboard front so I went and saw this...
Definitely worth going to see. It's that time again, fun and dancing imminent...
Get your deep v's and pointy desert boots out and join us for an evening of outlaw country, dad rock and art house-generally a good old knees up. More info
here See you there. Surely you are well aware of the battle of Normandy. Palace's tres trill trailer has been rattling around the interweb for a little while, here it is again if you haven't been...
We have hard copies of the dvd in the shop, it is well worth a watch, the Palace troops annihilate it! It costs 2 English pounds or is free with a Palace deck. Keep tabs on the Palace
Facebook page and you'll get a reminder on Monday when the whole video goes live. When our American friend's wake up I believe Grant Taylor's new edit on Thrasher will be aired world wide, I'll bring that to your attention as soon as

Chicken Bone
Doku Daisuke is in town, had Pin on the horn this morning, it could be 2002. Luigi's show the other night was great and he sold some work, also last night's show at the Wayward gallery was a success. Pin answered his phone "Nowison" earlier today, an hour later Casper showed me this work of genius...

Finally this guy can not have been hyped, note how he points out his assailant ahead of time...

Two things I did and liked
You may have heard of the meatwagon in Peckham. It's burgers received critical acclaim, thanks to a Sam Ashley tip off we enjoyed one of them in their new home. Here's a peek at the outside...
It's called meat liquor, the food is amazing and I have it on good authority that one will soon open in Covent Garden, for now you simply must visit their new venture. More info
here I recommend the Mushroom Swiss burger. Another thing I really enjoyed was this yesterday...

Wall of Fame
Funnily enough skate photos rarely make it to the walls in here, you're more likely to see a photo of a baboon than a switch crook. Koston's Indy ad where he did 'the move' (backside 180 fakie 5-0) made the front of the counter, Grosso's Vans ad is up too actually and Toddy's Transworld cover but you get what I mean. Jimmy Lannon's recent sequence in Sugar made the grade, here are two choice frames. Have a good look when you're next in, manny mania...
Choppers, Police on horseback, sirens, protesting students, idealism, crowd management, yawn. One absent minded protester left their Wilson Picket outside...
Tempted to change the A to an F. That would be Unbelievable. I was banging on about Cowboy night yesterday, I used to love it there. Then on the coffee run I bumped into the guy who puts it on. It's this Saturday!...
Last time I tried to go in there was after Gareth's wedding, we'd put in some steady drinking time that day and were in suits, strangely the bouncer denied us entry. Better luck this time, it's a fine time in there, pencil it in to your schedule.
